surfing & somya: a story

I'm someone who was never into sports during school and college. Never got any encouragement from anyone either.
But when you travel as much as I do, you’re tempted to try new things. It could be food, activities, art, music, or even a new sport.
So, one day in Feb'21, I decided to take a surfing lesson in Goa. The lesson ended with me feeling like a loser, so naturally, I didn't go back.
Fast forward to Dec'23...
I land in Varkala.
Varkala life is basically surf, sunsets, and chill.
While the last two are basic, I was scared to try the first one.
How would I even carry the board myself? (If you've met me, you know I am tiny :P)
But me being me, I gotta keep up the name and do something crazy.
So, I end up at a surfing lesson at 7 am the very next day!
I could have never imagined how I would feel post the session:
I am definitely NOT a loser. I am just average (these days, I love being average). I can do sports too. It’s not easy but not that hard either.
Fast forward to Feb'24...
I am volunteering at the surf school now.
I want to be a little better than average at surfing, and I now think that it is definitely possible.
You will never know what life has in store for you if you don’t try!
One life, gotta live it!
